Fractional Executive Services

The traditional model of senior leadership is broken for most organisations.

Hiring a full-time VP of Strategy, a Chief Operating Officer, or a Senior HR Director costs $180,000–$350,000 per year in salary alone before benefits, onboarding, and the significant risk of a bad hire.

And for many organisations, what they actually need is not a permanent executive. They need the thinking, the experience, and the judgment of one, on the terms that match their actual needs.

Fractional Executive Access gives you exactly that.

ExecSage maintains a vetted bench of senior executives across strategy, operations, finance, HR, marketing, technology, and more.

Every associate on our bench has been rigorously screened, interviewed, reference-verified, and onboarded to the ExecSage standard.

When you retain Fractional Executive Access, you are not searching a directory or taking a chance on a LinkedIn profile. You are accessing a pre-qualified, proven professional whose capabilities we will stand behind.

Who is this for?

This service is for organisations that:

Need senior-level expertise in a specific function but cannot justify or afford a full-time hire

Are navigating a transition, transformation, or growth phase that requires specialist leadership on a time-limited basis

Have experienced the cost of a bad senior hire and want a lower-risk, higher-quality alternative

Need someone who can embed quickly, add value immediately, and exit cleanly

ExecSage Vetting Standard

The word ‘vetted’ is used loosely in many markets. At ExecSage, it means something specific. Every associate on our bench has passed a five-stage process before they are made available to clients:

Portfolio & Career Review

A comprehensive evaluation of the executive’s career trajectory, the scale of organisations they have led, the complexity of challenges they have navigated, and the industries they have operated in. We look for consistent evidence of senior-level impact.

Strategic Interview

A structured, competency-based conversation. We probe how they think, how they have handled failure, whether they can operate in an advisory capacity rather than a directive one, and whether their communication style is compatible with our clients. Many experienced executives are brilliant operators but poor advisors. We screen for this distinction.

Reference Verification

We speak to people who have worked with and reported to the candidate. Not just peers and superiors. The reference calls are structured and specific. We are looking for consistency between self-report and external evidence.

Ethical Values Alignment

We confirm the associate’s commitment to the ExecSage standard of discretion, professionalism, and genuine service orientation. Not everyone with impressive credentials belongs on our bench. Character matters.

Performance Monitoring

Every active engagement is monitored through client feedback and regular ExecSage check-ins. Associates who consistently underperform are removed. ‘Vetted’ is not a one-time gate, it is an ongoing standard

How Engagement Works

Needs Assessment

You describe the function, the challenge, the scope, and the timeline. We ask the questions that help us match precisely — not just skills, but working style, sector experience, and cultural fit

Matching Introduction

Within 5–10 business days, we present 1–3 matched associates. You review their profiles and have a brief introductory conversation before any commitment is made.

Engagement Agreement

Once a match is confirmed, ExecSage issues a formal engagement agreement covering scope, hours, rate, duration, and performance expectations. All contracts are with ExecSage ,not directly with the associate.

Integration & Delivery

Your associate begins. ExecSage remains the account relationship, monitors delivery, and is your point of contact throughout. You are never left to manage the relationship alone

Review & Continuation

At the end of each engagement period, you review and decide: conclude, continue, or expand. ExecSage facilitates a clean transition or continuation based on your assessment

Frequently Asked Questions

How quickly can I access an associate?

For most functional areas, we can make an introduction within 5–10 business days of receiving your needs brief. For highly specialised roles or urgent timelines, reach out directly and we will discuss what is possible.

Can I convert a fractional engagement to a full-time hire?

Yes, with ExecSage’s knowledge and agreement. If an associate is the right long-term fit for your organisation, we support that transition. A placement fee applies, reflecting the value of the relationship that was built through the engagement.

What if the associate is not the right fit?

If within the first two weeks of an engagement the fit is not right, we will rematch at no additional cost. Beyond that period, standard notice terms apply. Our vetting process makes poor fit rare, but we stand behind every introduction

Are the associates employed by ExecSage?

Associates work with ExecSage on an independent contractor basis. All client-facing engagement agreements are between the client and ExecSage. We carry the quality and accountability responsibility throughout.
